the Pejabat Karang Mengarang of UPSI today serves as a catalyst for numerous publications, distinguished by outstanding achievements in the publishing field which in line with UPSI role as Education University Malaysia.
The Pejabat Karang Mengarang (PKM), Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris was established in 2001 under the name Penerbit UPSI (UPSI Press). The name was later changed to Pejabat Karang Mengarang in 2012 to continue the legacy of excellence initiated by Pendeta Za’ba and O.T. Dussek in 1924. Just like in its golden era, the Pejabat Karang Mengarang of UPSI today serves as a catalyst for numerous publications, distinguished by outstanding achievements in the publishing field which in line with UPSI role as Education University Malaysia. Among these are the recipients of the National Book Award in 2023, 2022, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2005. In 2023, Pejabat Karang Mengarang marked a historic milestone when it was awarded the Grand Prize for Prolific Publisher in the University Publisher Category at the National Book Awards 2023 by the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.This achievement continues UPSI’s legacy of excellence to be the Top Malaysia University.
